Septic tanks the good the bad and the ugly!!

When buying property in the French Alps there is a chance that you may have a septic tank, rather than mains sewage. This should not alarm you, there is no magic to owning a septic tank as long as you treat it nicely, your life together will be wonderful!

Your main responsibility is to make sure you know what goes down the loo apart from the obvious of course. Here in France there are plenty of septic safe cleaning products available in the supermarkets. You can also get feeders for you tank to help with the digestion of waste in the tank.

Now that the half term madness on the ski slopes is coming to an end, there is still a lot of snow about and the spring sunshine is blazing. Fair weather skiers your time is here, make the most of the snow before it disappears.

Christmas is coming and Snow has arrived…………

There is snow above 1500m and according to the forecast there’s more on the way. With it being so dry this autumn and the barmy temperatures everyone was getting a little worried about the forthcoming season but this week we have noticed much colder weather and snow at last.

It is gorgeously sunny today but more snow is forecast for the weekend and next week, so it could be a great season after all.

Change in the tax regulations

There will be a change in the capital gains tax regulations which will come into effect in February 2012. The advantage to you is that vendors are keen to sell their properties now before the new tax comes into effect. It is also likely that many vendors will take their properties off the market if they don’t sell in the next month.
